What is Partial Day Treatment?
Nearly 20 million United States citizens struggled with a substance abuse problem in 2017. Substance abuse costs businesses hundreds of billions of dollars annually; on the personal side, what may begin as a way for vulnerable people to escape mental health problems can turn into a dangerous addiction. While mental illness isn’t a predicator of addiction–teenagers are just as vulnerable as those battling anxiety or depression–one fact remains: substance abuse is a serious problem in the United States.
Only 4 million people struggling with addiction sought help in 2017. That means that less than a quarter of people affected got the treatment they need. Part of it is the stigma against rehab, with the majority of Americans feeling negatively toward those struggling with substance abuse. Back in 2007, 37% of college students rejected help, solely because of social stigma. That number has only increased since then.
Rehab can evoke imagery of sterile rooms, of inpatients shaking in corners, jonesing for a fix; otherwise, it’s thought of as something only rich people can afford, filled with outdoors retreats and self-help symposiums. Neither of these are accessible to your average human being: addicts need compassion, not retreats or hospital rooms.
Victory Detox Center offers an alternative. Located in North Hollywood, California, Victory Detox Center focuses on truly treating addiction, not just forcing strugglers through detox. Our compassionate approach, in conjunction with the help of leaders in addiction therapy, helps us prepare patients to face their fears and start down the road to recovery. Whether you want to undergo traditional inpatient therapy, a partial day program, or something in between, we’re here to help you feel at ease: we’ve seen patients at their worst and at their best, and we’re in this for the long haul.

What to Expect at a Partial Hospitalization Program
Addiction recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. Like we said, we know that not everyone has the privilege to “check into rehab.” Instead, we offer partial-day treatment. It’s still considered hospitalization, but don’t let that scare you: our experts will work with you to determine the best course of action that will give you the freedom to pursue education, re-engage with family and friends, and be the person you strive to be. Full inpatient hospitalization has more leeway in treatment times and methods, but that doesn’t make partial hospitalization programs less valid. No matter what, you will get the same expert level of care.
You can expect many of the same things in a partial hospitalization program that inpatients receive: support, medical assistance, and professional care. The primary difference is that patients do not stay overnight. Support groups are a large part of partial day rehab methods. Individual therapy, group settings, and even family sessions are all common. Medical care is always available, too, in conjunction with medication counseling and preparation for aftercare.
These may all be elements of a partial day program, but you’re likely asking: “How does it actually work?”
Partial hospitalization programs are more intensive than traditional outpatient care. Most people will visit treatment centers for 4-6 hours per day, much more often than in outpatient therapy: 3-5 times a week. They provide a higher level of support than outpatient treatments and are ideal for people who need a little more supervision, often as a way to “step down” from inpatient therapy.
Think of it like this: if inpatient therapy is a week-long resort, partial day programs are frequent day trips to those who will help you be the best you can be.

How the Partial Hospitalization Program at Victory Detox Works
Detox without support or follow-up isn’t treatment. Though physical symptoms of withdrawal and detox may only last a few days, the emotional ramifications are a lot harsher. Victory Detox is here to provide the help you need, to combine inpatient techniques with the freedom to go where you need, and to let you know that you’re never alone. We use a holistic approach to substance abuse therapy–after all, if physical therapy is only one component of treating a major injury, why should it be any different from substance abuse help? Therapy sessions are a large part of our technique, with licensed psychologists providing expert help in individual, family, and general group settings, but that’s far from our only approach. You can expect nutritional support, too, helping you re-learn proper eating habits that will keep your body functioning and healthy. Victory Detox offers a variety of dietary programs, whether your addiction has caused weight loss, weight gain, or all-around malnutrition. Our approach isn’t to shame, but to help our patients keep their bodies and minds healthy and leave them happier than they arrived.
Your treatment will be tailored specifically to you through a combination of traditional, modern, and holistic therapies. Daily groups and therapy sessions are a large part of the Victory Detox philosophy–without sharing who you are and what you’ve been through, it’s harder to treat the core issues that have led to your or your loved one’s substance abuse issues. In conjunction with support groups and dietary education, we will also work with you to create a comprehensive aftercare plan to minimize the possibility of relapse.
