Is the Holistic Approach to sub-acute drug and alcohol detox and residential treatment process improved when utilizing holistic, health and luxury & amenity types of elements?
For those of you familiar with drug rehabs and sub-acute drug and alcohol detox and residential treatment centers around Los Angeles and Southern California. You know all too well that they’ve become snonymous with terms like luxury, holistic, upscale, executive and so on. We even see and hear such terms being used with respect to mental health recovery services as well. The real question, however, is whether or not actually having these elements can truly create a positive impact as opposed to not having them.
While there are many fewer sub-acute drug and alcohol detox and residential treatment centers than there are substance abuse treatment facilities, and that’s the case regardless of whether you’re in Los Angeles or elsewhere around the country, the fact remains that both service types have seen many companies adopt the use of such terminology in their service descriptions.
Unfortunately, however, many companies using terms like executive and holistic to describe their facilities do not truly follow suit as described, therefore it is very important to do your research, regardless of whether it’s for sub-acute drug and alcohol detox and residential treatment, addiction treatment or even sober living housing!
Facilities offering more upscale and holistic recovery services will often times introduce services that are generally not seen in mid-level detox and rehab centers. Examples of such service might be:
- Therapeutic massage services
- Advanced therapies like Neurofeedback and EMDR
- Organic and more nutritious meals
- Specialty physical fitness services
- And more…
So the question here is really, does the addition of holistic, luxury and other higher-end recovery services like these truly impact the quality of care?
First and foremost, the client has to have some level of true desire to get sober. Whether we’re dealing with a short stay in sub-acute drug and alcohol detox and residential treatment or a longer stay in some sort of residential treatment center, there must be at least some element of desire to change on the part of the patient.
Beyond that however, there’s no question that the addition of such specialty services can positively impact one’s journey to recovery from drug or alcohol addiction.
Considering that substance abuse and mental health issues are thought to be 3-fold diseases, that being of mind, body and spirit, most treatment professionals would agree that attacking the illness from all sides would make the greatest impact. Can we say that luxury accommodations and holistic treatment is at the very core of addiction treatment? Of course not. Can they create more positive and healthy mindsets within the overall recovery process? Yes, absolutely!
When it comes to sub-acute drug and alcohol detox and residential treatment rehabs of this caliber, Los Angeles and Southern California in general tend to lead the way. From Malibu to Newport Beach to Palm Springs and so forth, the options are plentiful…
